Using Action Items

The Action Items function allows you to manage tasks which occur in relation to property, skills, training and events. For example, you may wish to notify an employee by email of an upcoming training course, or set a reminder regarding some replacement property. There are three different types of Actions Items available:

Using Action Items you can:

  • Send emails to internal and external contacts
  • Set tasks and reminders for the current user
  • Assign tasks to other users
  • Make a note of phone messages to/from an internal/external contact
  • Set up an action template to be reused as required for tasks/emails that will re-occur. For example, you can set up a form email for replacement of property items, which at the time of sending will pick up the details which have been set for that particular property item.

Any action templates created are available to tasks, phone and emails.

Design and Preview

Content for Action Items is added and edited on the Design tab. To see how the Action Item will appear when it is opened via the Company Announcements window, click the Preview tab.

Note: URL addresses can be included in News Items, Notices, Policies, and any other Documents area. Currently these URL addresses must be a maximum of 200 characters. If you enter a URL that is longer than this, it will be truncated when the item is saved, and therefore not work correctly when used. We suggest you use a URL shortening service such as 'tinyurl' to circumvent this issue.
